De tuin | 2019 | General Practice Centre Rijnstate Hospital | Arnhem (NL)
Rijnstate Hospital asked me to design an artwork that could engage people waiting at their general practice centre. The artwork should give the space a calming and relaxed energy and at the same time give those waiting something to look at for a long period of time. I knew I had to work with nature, because being amongst plants and animals calms me down. I made three A3 size collages showing a tapestry/a vista full of foliage, whilst playing with the illusion of depth. Using my own vegetable garden, houseplants and nearby flower fields as an inspiration for the work. The small collages were blown up to wall filling size. From afar you can enjoy the whole scenery. Up close you can wonder between layers of paper, the different brushstrokes and pencil lines. And maybe you will see a chicken hiding between the leaves.
