2022

In 2022, I spent three months as an artist-in-residence at the AGA-Lab printmaking studio in Amsterdam. Captivated by the prints of Mary Cassatt (1844–1926), with their subtle colours and depictions of intimate, loving moments between mother and child, I immersed myself in the techniques of aquatint and monotype. It was a fascinating, almost mathematical process in which I had to plan every step in advance in order to achieve the perfect colours. The works below are based on photographs I took during a 10-day period of coronavirus isolation with my daughter.
