Een jaar rond de moestuin | 2020 | commissioned work for Villa Zebra, museum for children | Rotterdam
For a period of a year I worked as an artist in residence at Villa Zebra, as part of the exhibition 'de Moestuin' (the allotment). Villa Zebra gave me the opportunity to make a 4,5 meter long still life showing the four seasons in my vegetable garden. The young visitors helped me by making drawings of their fantasy vegetable-fruits, which I used as inspiration during my process. For example: I made a selection of 3D fantasy fruit-vegs out of paper maché based on these drawings. The collage work shows a table displaying the stages of my allotment during spring, summer and autumn. Inspired by 16th/17th century Dutch painters like Adriaan Coorte and Clara Peeters. It was a great year of experiment with paper marché, detailed drawing and collage.
